Why did Xiaole become a firefighter after graduating from college?
Xiaole lay on the railing on the roof of the building, looking at the distant sky that was reflected in red. Suddenly, a gust of wind blew by and the raging fire instantly engulfed the mountains. “Grandma, the big fire has eaten up the mountain,” Xiaole exclaimed in surprise as she ran downstairs to her invisible grandmother. The old man’s strand of white hair was floating in the air, and his cloudy eyes looked into the distance. A few tears flowed from the old man’s originally dry eyes.
The old man’s son, also known as Xiaole’s father, is a firefighter in the town. Three days ago, he received news that a mountain fire had started nearby, so the entire fire brigade was mobilized to put out the fire. I thought it was a small fire, but who knew it burned for three days and three nights, and even the fire brigade from other towns rushed over. These days, my grandmother asked Xiaole to take leave and lie on the railing to watch the fire. Xiaole was also happy because she could see far and wide places. She thought to herself, “I must go even further away in the future.”.
Xiaole, who had seen her father again, had already changed into white clothes. She stood at the entrance of the fire station, watching her father’s friends and comrades walk in with red eyes. It seemed that she had not yet realized the fact that she had lost her father. That night, the fire was extinguished, and Xiaole and her grandmother were waiting on the roadside hoping to meet their returning father, but they were told that their father was forever trapped in that gust of wind.
“Xiaole!” An aunt, also dressed in white, cried and hugged Xiaole. Xiaole knew that this was the wife of her father’s best comrade in arms, Aunt Li. Her husband was also trapped in that gust of wind, and there were seven such uncles. More and more white clothes walked over, their eyes all red. Xiao Le also began to cry loudly amidst the sound of her aunt’s crying. At this moment, she finally understood that she had lost the dear person who bought her marshmallows and tied her braids.
The cause of the fire came out, it was poachers who lost their cigarette butts in the mountains where it had not rained for several months. Grandma has been sick for three days, and her already cloudy eyes are now covered with a layer of white. Xiaole’s mother passed away while giving birth to Xiaole. On the third night of her grandmother’s illness, Xiaole held her grandmother in front of the bed. She didn’t want to cry because it would make her grandmother even more sad, but she couldn’t help but cry and say, “Grandma, Xiaole only has you.”
On the the fourth day, Grandma recovered from her illness, and Xiao Le should go to school. She hugged her grandmother tightly and told her where she couldn’t touch or go, even though these grandmothers had long known. After arriving at school, the children seemed even more enthusiastic towards her than before. They brought their snacks and toys to Xiaole and played games with her. The teachers also praised her handwriting and helped her tie her braids. Xiaole had a very happy day. After school, Xiaole opened the door and saw Aunt Li. Her eyes were still red. She gently hugged Xiaole and told her that she would take care of her grandmother and Xiaole in the future.
Later, Xiaole was admitted to the best university in the country and became a well-known person in the town. However, after graduation, she returned to the small town to become a firefighter. Others did not understand Xiaole’s choice, and only her grandmother and Aunt Li knew that she was doing it to repay the firefighter uncles who later grew up with her, to repay the nameless people who helped her, and to repay the small town. Perhaps when Xiao Le was a child, he wanted to go further, but as he grew up, he wanted to stay in the place where he grew up, accompany the people here, the trees here, and the wind here.
